In shipbuilding and repair, laser cleaning is used to remove rust from hulls, decks and steel components before welding or applying a new coating. Because no sand, water or chemicals are involved, the yard stays clean and easily meets the environmental requirements that apply in ports and dry docks. When restoring protected façades in natural stone or brick, preserving the original structure is essential. Laser cleaning removes dirt, soot and graffiti layer by layer, with millimeter precision and without water or chemical products that could penetrate the stone's pores. That makes the technique suitable for listed buildings where sandblasting would be too aggressive and moisture damage a real risk. For private homes older than 10 years, the reduced 6% VAT rate may also apply to the renovation work.
